Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in strength within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team features Teor (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might look unsuited, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the party knows exactly where to go next after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise started the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his own means, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to kill the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the team reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the northern region in quest for the traitor.
